Affordable Workforce Housing

Affordable workforce housing is designed to make living in the city accessible. Affordable workforce housing means rental housing and homeownership opportunities that are affordable to residents whose income is no greater than a certain percentage of the Atlanta area median income.

As part of a broader citywide effort, approximately $240 million of TAD funds will be set aside into an affordable housing trust fund for the purpose of building workforce housing units. This commitment is estimated to create as many as 5,600 new workforce housing units inside the Atlanta BeltLine area, the most significant investment in affordable workforce housing in Atlanta's history.

The BeltLine Affordable Housing Advisory Board (BAHAB), which consists of local affordable housing experts, was created by City Council to work with Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. to make recommendations of policies and goals for the affordable housing trust fund which will best to leverage the fund and ensure the creation of accessible and high quality affordable housing units.

To better leverage the BeltLine affordable housing trust fund and other public and private investments in affordable housing, The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership has led a coalition of more than 30 public, private, non-profit, institutional, and community partners to create the Atlanta Land Trust Collaborative (ALTC). The ALTC is an independent non-profit organization committed to maintaining permanent affordability in Atlanta BeltLine neighborhoods and throughout the City of Atlanta through the use of Community Land Trusts (CLTs).
